Notes list

The main window appears each time you launch dtNoted (you can cancel this in the program settings). If you don't see this window on your computer screen, you can launch it one of the following ways.

  • Right-click the program icon in the system tray with you mouse and select the "Open list" menu item.
  • Press the appropriate hotkey (Ctrl + Alt + L by default).

Program's main windows contains a list of notes and a tab area for quick switching between note lists:

Active Notes - This list contains all active notes, that is the ones you are currently working with.

Notes Archives - This is the place to store your old notes and move completed tasks to. You can set the program to automatically move all notes after completion to archives, when a certain time period has passed (See option "Auto move note to archive after" in the program settings window).

Trash (deleted notes) - Trash is a place where deleted notes are placed. You can restore the erroneously deleted note from Trash at any instance.

Notes list also displays text of a note, date of creation, date and time of an event, color, type and task status. You can change all these characteristics by simply clicking an appropriate icon. You can also sort out notes by different parameters if you click the header of an appropriate column.

If the note text is too large to fit one line, this icon is displayed next to it. Click it to enlarge the note text viewing area. If you want to minimize/maximize all notes in the list, use and buttons located in the tool panel.

To open a note, double-click it or select it and press button in the tool panel. This option is available only if you are in the Active Notes list or the Archive. You can't open a deleted note from Trash, because you have to restore it first.

Key combinations available in the Notes list:

  • "Ins" - create a new note Shift + Ins - create a new note and insert text from clipboard.
